ANOTHER black tank odor question

I have read many of the tank odor postings in the last year or so and even printed some of the suggestions that sounded good. But, now I have a problem and can't find any of the things I printed.
My wife and I are work camping in Texas at the present time and MAN its hot. We have tried several things in the black tank and just can't seem to knock down that odor. I dump the black tank every 7 days and treat it with 2 green packs from Wal-mart. The gray tanks are constantly open and I don't smell them.
What are ya'll using in the black tank to control odor? I know the heat makes it harder which is why I use 2 packs.
Thanks,,,,,,,,,,Don

RE: Used 2008 Jayco Jayflight G2 27BH

Well I have a G2 29FBS that we bought new 6 mo ago with all the features you discribed except the inclosed under belly. Now mine is 3ft longer and has a slide and we paid 19,500 in Texas for it new. So, 17,500 for the 27 BH used just seems too much........The warranty should transfer. Jayco comes standard with a 2yr warranty....

RE: Used 2008 Jayco Jayflight G2 27BH

I think thats a little high for a used trailer, even though its only been used twice. Not haveing a slide really hurts the price also. Have you looked to see what a new one would cost?

RE: What about working in State / Fed parks?

Thanks for all the responses. It gives us some insight something to think about. I enjoy having something to do everyday, or at least be occupied most of the week. DW is off and running each day with something she is into..

RE: What about working in State / Fed parks?

Well I know that you get full hook up and a small wage that seem to be enough to cover some basic expenses, like groceries and gas $. My real question, I think, is being tied down for any length of time to one place. Commitment

RE: Gas prices changing your camping plans?

We stopped driving the TV around town and such and drive the car most of the time that gets 30MPG. This saves us about 150.00 per mo in fuel cost. I will apply this savings to our travel expence this summer so it will even out, but we don't plan on leaving Texas this year..

RE: Gas prices changing your camping plans?

We have stop driving the truck around town and for doing erands in and use the car that gets 30mpg. This saved us 150.00 in fuel this mo. This will allow us the extra $$ for the trips coming up, but we will be staying closer to home, Texas only.

Dallas to Branson

I have been studying this trip and have two different ways to go. Google suggests taking I-35 up through Oklahoma to Springfield. The RV routes are tell me the Hwy 69 out of Sherman up to I-40 and over too Ft Smith and north to Fayetteville. The driving time is about the same but the mileage is 100 miles more going thru Ok. Any of you guys been these two ways and can give me a heads up of the best route. I'm pulling a 32ft 7000lb TT with 07 F-150.

Colorado Bend SP

We are planning a trip to Colorado Bend the second weekend in Jan and wanted to know if any can give me a heads up on where to stay. Electric an water is all we really need, but I'm having trouble finding this kind of site in this area. We are thinking about staying over at Inks Lake an just driving to Colorado Bend for a day trip. Any suggestions would be great..............

RE: 32' TT....really that limited?

Hey Randy, I just got back from my first trip in my new Jayco. It is 32ft. and I had no trouble pulling, parking, or getting around in general. After you get use to it, it's no big deal. You just have to be aware of the length you have behind you an drive accordingly.

Equil-i-zer Hitch

We just got back for our first trip in our new Jayco 29fbs. I was a great time and we are making plans for our next adventure. Other than the middle gray tank that holds the shower water filling up we had no problems, till we started to hook up to come home. If a buddy had'nt come by and help we would still be there work on that hitch. I have read several things about hitches in this form and wanted to see if any one can give me some insight on the easiest way to hook up with the equil-i-zer hitch?

RE: Would like to start RVing I have Chevy Tahoe

I also had a Tahoe and was like you about the weight concerns. When I found a trailer that we liked I went to two of my truck buddies that know their business about TV and tow weights. They agreed that the Tahoe would pull the weight but, the transmission in the Tahoe was not going to handle the pull. The tranny would be first thing to give you the problem. I had a 99 with 120,000 miles so that was a no brainer for me.
Bouught a new TRUCK, Ford F150 with the 5.4 It has a tow weight of 9200 lbs and opens the door to more choices in your seach. Happy Hunting.

RE: Jayco Jayflight 31BHS

I just bought a new Jayco 29 FBS. It is listed at 32.5 ft. The important thing for us was the bunk room has a door and room for TV, and clothes for the kids.
